Noedy HD Trio Live

Noedy Hechavarria Duharte comes from Santiago de Cuba, a city Cubans affectionately call “la tierra caliente” (the warm land). In Cuba, Noedy studied music at the Alvaro Variel Conservatory in Havana and played in various bands, at the Tropicana in Santiago de Cuba and at the National Cabaret in Havana. In addition to play tenor and alto saxophone, Noedy composes original music that is highly poetic, complex with strong harmonies. His music is influenced by contemporary jazz music, Afro-Cuban and latin rhythms as well as francophone music from Quebec and France.  Noedy will be accompanied by Phil Albert (bass) and Cyril Lodja (drums), two well respected musicians from the local jazz scene of Victoria.

Noedy’s interactive originals not only contribute to the creation of a collective storytelling but also reflect a multicultural flow, that circulates from Afro-Cuban Rhythms to Canadian jazz.Rafael Zaldivar, Professor Laval University, pianist, composer nominated to JUNO
