Movement & Calligraphy Workshops

Friday, June 14 @11am - 1pm with ages 9 - 14 @2pm - 4pm with ages 14+

Each session is limited to 10 people 

Movement & Calligraphy is a free, open-level workshop created and co-facilitated by dance artist Shion Skye Carter and Japanese calligraphy artist Kisyuu. Participants will be guided through an introductory lesson on Japanese calligraphy leading into an improvised movement practice, where participants embody the brushstrokes of their calligraphy piece. Join us in taking intentional time to connect the mind and body, while exploring a traditional art form from a contemporary perspective!

This event is being held on the unceded, shared traditional territories of Penelakut, Lamalcha, Hwitslum and other Hul’qumi’num and SENĆOŦEN speaking peoples, Coast Salish Peoples of Galiano, as well as the ceded territories of Tsawwassen First Nation, on what is now known as Galiano Island.
