Hailing from the stolen territories of the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ nations (Victoria, BC in Canada), Clanna Morna brings their take on the Celtic Traditional genre to the west coast. Their sound is rooted in the traditional Irish, Scottish and English music that many love, and features carefully crafted arrangements, rhythmic spirited energy and captivating storytelling. Comprised of an ensemble of multi-instrumentalists, their excellent musicianship and attention to detail create a unique sound. Members of Clanna Morna have been arranging and performing traditional Celtic and original music for over a decade in other projects, sharing their melodic arrangements and stories both internationally and locally. clannamorna.ca Ghostly Hounds combines strings, horns and powerful vocals to create a dark, soulful sound. Formed in Tiohtià:ke/ Montreal and often on the road, the band currently resides on St̕ey̕əs/ Pender Island, BC. Ghostly Hounds features the songs of Francesca Mirai (vocals, banjo) with various musical accompaniment, most often including Suzanne Stirling (trumpet, mandolin) and Vimul Him (upright bass, cello, saw). Francesca’s deeply personal song writing, with focus on themes of love and grief, has evoked adoration from listeners across Canada and the United States. Their skill as a songwriter, their unique and powerful voice, the intimacy and vulnerability of their songs, and the band’s original and soulful arrangements have earned Ghostly Hounds enduring and enthusiastic support from their fans.
